Angola, officially the Republic of Angola, is located in Southern Africa bordered by Namibia on the south, the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the north, and Zambia on the east with Atlantic Ocean on west coast. The capital is Luanda.



Angola has a population of around 18 million, it is composed of Ovimbundu (37%), Ambundu (25%), Bakongo (13%) and other ethnic groups, for example, the Chokwe, the Ovambo and the Mbunda. The major religions practiced in the country are Indigenous beliefs (47%), Roman Catholic (38%) and Protestant (15%).


The official language of Angola is Portuguese, and Kwanza (Kz) is national currency.


Angola’s high growth rate in recent years was driven by oil and diamonds, which have been considered as the most important economic resources of the country. Refined petroleum products, coffee, sisal, fish and fish products, timber and cotton are also the main export commodities with China, US and South Africa as the major export countries.
